US invades Iraq in partnership with Kurdish political parties. Kurdish security forces (Peshmerga) take control of Sinjar.

2005

The Start of So-Called "Democratical" Iraq

New Iraqi constitution is passed which makes Sinjar 'disputed territory,' leaving Ezidis in political limbo.

Kurdish Islamists Attack Ezidis

Kurdish mobs attack Ezidi homes and businesses in Sheikhan.

Apr. 2007

Start of Hatred Against Ezidis

Kurdish politicians plan the murder of a 17-year-old girl. They say she was killed by her family after converting to Islam to incite Sunni Muslims against the Ezidi community.

Apr. 2007

Kurdish Islamists Murder Ezidis

Twenty-four Ezidi men are taken off a bus and killed by Kurdish gunmen. The attack is claimed by Al-Qaeda. Ezidis are no longer safe to study or work in Mosul.

Forgotten Ezidi Massacare

Kurdish KDP party detonated two massive truck bombs in the Yazidi towns of Tel Ezer and Siba Sheikh Khidr, killing over 796 people. It was the third largest terror attack in history.

Increasing Attacks on Ezidis

The war in Syria begins. Al-Qaeda in Iraq regroups and participates in the war against the Syrian government.

The Peshmerga confiscate the weapons of Ezidis and prevent them from fleeing to the Iraqi Kurdistan region.

The Beginning of Ongoing Ezidi Genocide

following the order from KRG leaders all Peshmarga forces withdrawn from Shingal without notice, allowing ISIS to slaughter and enslave thousands of Ezidis. The Peshmerga attempt to block Ezidis from fleeing Sinjar, and some Peshmerga even join ISIS. Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani claims ISIS is his enemy to get weapons from the US and European nations.
